Haley grew up in Listowel, Ontario, where he worked alongside his family in logging, milling, and farming. His father built their first sawmill when Haley was just 8 years old, at a time when portable sawmills weren’t readily available. In the early '80s they started manufacturing and selling their own sawmills.
Haley is a millwright by trade and moved to Alberta over 15 years ago. Along with his brother and a close friend, they built a couple sawmills and a kiln, which marked the beginning of Pipestone Timber Company.
Meet The Owner— Haley
All of the wood sold by Pipestone is 100% Canadian—Ash from Alberta, Maple from Manitoba, and Oak, Maple, and Black Walnut from Ontario. Haley, with the help of his dad, personally source each piece and know the story behind every slab— from the stump to the finished product. Each piece has its own unique history—whether it’s a scar from a tire swing on a family farm’s Oak tree or the tapped holes in a Maple tree that once produced syrup. The wood is kiln-dried in Alberta, ensuring it stays stable and resistant to warping when it’s ready for finishing. All hardwood purchased from Pipestone Timber comes pre-surfaced, and a second surfacing is complimentary. Wood is sold by the board foot, with milling and CNC services charged by the hour. Our sawmill can cut up to 6ft wide and 23ft long, and the CNC capacity is 6ft by 12ft.

As each piece of wood is unique and our slab availability is always changing, we always have a large selection of slabs that are kiln dried and ready to use. If you have a specific request— call, email, or message Haley on instagram. Better yet come out and see them for yourself!
